FESF chairs event at UN’s 54th Commission on Social Development

Ameena Zia chaired an FESF event, “Rethinking Social Development in Pakistan Through Partnerships”, at the United Nation’s 54th Commission on Social Development in New York City.

The event marked the first Pakistan civil society initiative to include Pakistani social development NGOs at the United Nation in the last 70 years, and discussions revolved around ways to promote Agenda 2030 (UN Global Goals), adopted by 180 world leaders, including Pakistan.

The event highlighted Deaf Reach Schools & Training Centers; Developments in Literacy (DIL); The Citizens Foundation (TCF); Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS); and social development initiatives of doctHERs and Naya Jeevan. Representatives discussed the importance of working through partnerships in order to achieve long term sustainability for their projects. Each organization highlighted their joint partnerships with the private sector, provincial governments, and other civil society organizations. The audience loved the video presentations as it provided visual insight into Pakistan.
